For more than 20 years, the Rotary Club of Boronia has conducted a Charity Golf Day to raise funds for Club projects that assist the local community.
Our 2020 Golf Day was held at Eastwood Golf Club on 10th February. The ‘weather gods’ once again smiled on us with the rain holding off, allowing players to enjoy a warm and dry morning of golf. Some 72 players hit off in a shotgun start at 8:00am and, apart from a few minor delays, were finished by 12:30pm. Lunch provided by Rodamz Catering was served in the Club House at 1:00pm.
Barry Plant Real Estate of Boronia was again the principal/’naming rights’ sponsor, having taken on this role for a number of years. Additionally, sixteen individual local firms ‘Sponsored a Hole’; a number of these have also supported the event for several years. Prizes for ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ are also donated. A full list of our sponsors is available on the “Our partners” page.
This year’s event was again a great success. Thanks to the support of players, sponsors and the Eastwood Golf Club, we were successful in raising approximately $10,000. The profit will be distributed to local charity organisations/projects, including:
- Foothills Community Care – a local organisation provides places where people can connect and engage as they address issues such as family and domestic violence, addictions, homelessness, poverty, mental health issues, and social isolation.
- Skyline Education Foundation – an organisation that provides bursaries for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid – providing support to individuals and communities that were severely impacted by bush fires in early 2020.
Our next Charity Golf Day will be held on Monday, 22 February 2021. Please contact the Club at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0448 743 335 if you are interested in sponsorship opportunities or participating as a player.
