Although the COVID-19 pandemic brought many changes to the way our Club operates during the 2019/20 Rotary year, we were still able to make substantial achievements.
Financial contributions were made to support local community groups including Knox Infolink, Foothills Community Care and Skyline Education Foundation, which all faced increased demand as a result of the pandemic, as well as to the East Gippsland Rotary Fire Aid initiative. We continued our support in maintaining the CWA (Country Women’s Association) facility in Boronia; a third Little Street Library was set up, this latest addition located at Wantirna Mall; and we again recognised worthy students through the presentation of Citizenship Awards at local schools.
In the international arena, we continued to provide support through our Sister Club, the Rotary Club of Taveuni Island, Fiji. Particular projects included the 14th annual Taveuni Eye Project in October 2019, and support of a scholarship program for needy secondary school students.
Details of these and the full extent of the Club’s achievements during 2019/20 are presented in the Annual Report
2019-2020 which has now been released.
